Web Developer

Position Summary

 The Web Developer is responsible for the development, enhancement, integration, maintenance, and/or support of application systems to meet strategic communication needs of the University in an accurate and timely manner. This position exercises broadly defined discretion and independent judgment to accomplish duties and responsibilities to advance information solutions affecting all levels and areas of the University community. Position may be assigned lead and/or supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three (3) years professional experience.

Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Position Specific Qualifications

  • Direct experience applying web technologies to meet business requirements.

  • Experience with current and emerging web technologies, including web application research, development, implementation, maintenance, and support.

  • Demonstrated effective communication skills.

  • Structured systems analysis, design, and programming experience.   Preferred Qualifications -A degree directly related to application development (e.g., computer science, MIS).

  • Working knowledge of web development concepts and constructs including object-oriented programming (OOP), service oriented architecture protocol (SOAP), standard markup languages (e.g., HTML, XML), stylesheets (e.g., CSS), authentication/authorization services (e.g., Active Directory), or web application languages (e.g., ASP, JavaScript).

  • Proven experience with a .NET programming environment including Visual Studio, Visual SourceSafe, and/or ASP.NET.

  • Proven experience working with SQL Server and/or SQL stored procedures.

  • Experience using business, data, and process modeling principles and techniques.

  • Experience in independently researching, assessing, and implementing new technologies and products.

  • Experience in project leadership and management.

  • Experience using collaboration and personal productivity tools.

  • Experience in higher education, government agency, or non-profit institution.
